The Shawsville Lay Ministerial Association is an association of lay people from each of the member churches, as well as others interested in helping the hungry in the county. Shawsville is a small town located in Eastern Montgomery County, VA.
The SLMA was founded in the late 60s to manage the community service programs that no single church could handle. The SLMA Food Pantry and the adjoining clothes closets are most of what the SLMA handles. For many years the number of client families was small. In fact the project was expected to provide for less than 40 families. Since the economic troubles in the last couple of years the number has peaked at over 250 families. As time has gone by many government food distribution programs have been cut. WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT THE PANTRY CAN NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE FOOD TO SO MANY!
These CDs feature many local musicians and singers and their content is determined soley by the producers of each CD. The "Foodbank CD Project" is for the benefit of the SLMA Food Pantry. No member of the SLMA has been asked to approve of any project policies or content. The "Foodbank CD Project" uses no SLMA funds and is entirely self supporting.
